COLLEEN GALLAGHER - PRINCIPAL TEACHER:
Colleen began studying Hatha Yoga in 1980 to ease back and neck pain from an automobile accident. In 1986 she began to study the Iyengar Method of Hatha Yoga. The introduction to this method of Hatha Yoga gave her an understanding of the body, mind, breath and movement connection.
She is a Certified Intermediate Level 3 Iyengar instructor who has traveled to India to study with the Iyengars, as well as other leading Yoga teachers, including: Patricia Walden, John Schumacher, Manouso Manos and Gabriella Giubilaro of Italy.
Training in massage therapy and certification as a "Trager Approach" therapist (a gentle psychophysical therapy) gave Colleen a background in anatomy and physiology. This training greatly enhances Colleen's ability as a Yoga instructor to use specific poses to help individuals recovering from injuries.
Colleen's energetic and precision-oriented teaching style is caring, encouraging and fun. She creates a balance between the physical and spiritual aspects of Hatha Yoga to deliver a focused and meaningful class.
